Analyzing differences amoung Acetal Copolymer and Dupont Delrin in Sheet and Rods
Homopolymer Acetal or Delrin is the perfect plastic for turning on a CNC lathe lathe. It is simple to turn, but it requires reduced speeds. I’ve used this material to make Scottish small pipes chanters. I have purchased countless items from a plastic shop in Anaheim. Smaller parts usually ship promptly and everything was well packed. I have never had a problem with an order.
Between the Delrin and POM-C rods, both materials are incredibly durable and easily machinable, and they have very similar physical properties. They appear the same, but in practical use there are some differences that can make one better than the other. It also depends heavily on your application. As with any plastic materials, be sure to check the typical properties data sheet for the desired properties you may need for your application.
Our Acetal Sheet is probably our choice material for machining, giving an excellent finish both on manual and CNC Machines. Its got a very low moisture absorption making it the preferred grade for food contact and where the dimensional stability is critical. Acetal Sheet has the perfect combination of high mechanical strength, durability and toughness, giving it outstanding sliding properties, electrical insulation, and wear resistance.
Acetal Sheet has many applications and is particularly of value in the food preparation industry. Because of its low moisture absorption it helped it to achieve Food & Drug Administration approval in addition to its superb sliding abilities which aid with very low friction and hard wearing food safe components.
Acetal Sheet stock, perhaps the best of the engineering plastics chosen within the automotive industry because of its long lasting dimensional stability and toughness. It delivers solutions for designers to help them create long lasting and very durable components. Another popular area for Pomalux is in moisture applications. This environment suits acetal well because its low moisture absorption results in components that will not expand or change dimensions due to contact with water.
